Snow Leopard seems to be a little different to its predecessors when it comes to performing a clean installation/re-installation. The following needs to be done:
Evolution MK425 / 449 / 461c MK-125 MK-149 MK-225c MK-249 MK-261 MK-249c MK-7 MK-461C MK-449C MK-425C MK-361c MK-361 X-Session UC-17: Operating Systems: Mac OS 10.4.0. Free drivers for M-AUDIO MK-249. Found 4 files for Windows 7, Windows 7 64-bit, Windows Vista, Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows XP, Windows XP 64-bit, Mac OS 10.x, Mac OS X, Mac OS X 10.6. Select driver to download.
- Boot off the OS X install DVD – place DVD in drive, restart Mac, hold down C when it “bongs” and keep it held until you see the Apple logo with a spinning wheel
- Click Continue when you see Welcome to OS X Snow Leopard
- Choose Utilities and then Disk Utility
- In Disk Utility click on your hard drive on the left, choose Erase and go with the defaults (OS X Extended (Journaled))
- Once the drive has been erased select Quit from the Disk Utility menu
- Back in the install screen click Continue
- Choose your newly erased hard drive, agree to the license and click Install
- The installation process should now run for about 30 minutes
- After that you’ll have to fill in your personal info, location details, network/wireless info, etc.

I've got an M-Audio controller (sorry but I'm at work and I don't think I have the model number with me) that goes between my Evolution MK-361 and my Mac Mini. It works great with Garage Band. I haven't tried it with any other apps. Probably part of the reason is that I don't play it enough to get good at keyboard so I haven't had a reason/need/other to use another app with it. I'll set something up with Siri to remind me to find out the model number when I get home tonight.
